Dichroic Glass
Dichroic glass is glass that has thin layers of metallic oxides, such as titanium, silicone and magnesium deposited upon the surface of the glass in a high temperature vacuum furnace. Dichroic coatings transmit different wavelengths of light and reflect others giving off the appearance of beautiful colored opals. A third color is also reflected from a 45 degree angle. The colors change after firing and cannot be duplicated making your jewelry piece truly "One of a Kind".
